Questions, meet answers.

The practical details about the program, eligibility, timing, and what to expect.

How is the program structured?

APM is a paid, 12-month Product Management apprenticeship. You’ll rotate through two product teams, learn from leaders in the craft, solve real merchant problems, and grow alongside a small community of peers.

What teams will I work with?

APMs join multidisciplinary teams working across Shopify. The exact problem space varies by placement, and each rotation gives you a different environment in which to build judgment and deliver meaningful work.

Where will I work?

The program is remote by default. It also includes intentional in-person moments that require travel, giving you time to connect with your peers and people across Shopify.

When does the next cohort start, and when will applications open?

The next APM cohort starts March 8, 2027.

Applications will open soon. Sign up for notifications to get an early heads-up on when the next application window is confirmed.

What kind of candidates are you looking for?
  • People early in their careers or moving into Product Management.
  • Curious builders who are comfortable learning through change.
  • Candidates eligible to work in Canada or the United States and located in North America during the program.
  • No previous Product Management title or specific academic background is required.
What does the interview process look like?

The four stages are: Apply, Life Story, Case + Vibe-code, and Decision. Candidates moving forward receive preparation details from the recruitment team. You can also read about how Shopify hires.

What will I leave the 12-month program with?

You’ll have worked across two product teams, shipped real work, and built practical experience framing problems, collaborating across disciplines, using data, prototyping, and making decisions with incomplete information.

Will Shopify offer sponsorship or visa support?

No. Shopify does not provide sponsorship or visa support for the APM program. You need valid work authorization and must be available to work full-time in North America for the duration of the program.
